The Dialtones’ immersive video project, SonoLuminescence, highlighted the transcendental power of video and sound. The video artists utilized three projectors to envelop the audience in visuals. Musicians played behind two 9×12 backlit screens, silhouetting them among an ever-changing video landscape. Building upon Gurgiolo’s success in Calculated Carelessness, the 2013 installation inspired by Soren Kierkegaard’s The Seducer’s Diary, SonoLuminescence explored relationships between the interactive experience of composed and improvised music, lyrics, lighting, video and the creation of space.
